Biography

Barry Feierstein is the Chief Business Operating Officer for University of Phoenix. He joined the University in 2010, bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience, including a broad corporate background, successful entrepreneurial endeavors, and time as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co.

Prior to joining University of Phoenix, Barry spent five years at Sallie Mae (the market leader in education lending), serving for the last two years as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, where he managed divisions responsible for essentially all of the company’s revenue. In this role, he generated more than $26 billion of loan volume and managed a team of more than 600 people, while leading an initiative to reposition the corporate brand to extend upstream into the saving and planning for college space.

Prior to this role, he served as Senior Vice President of Private Lending, where he worked extensively with proprietary schools and the unique issues facing their largely independent, older and often less than full-time students. He was responsible for restructuring the company’s non-traditional lending activities with this customer segment.


Education

Barry received a BA in Economics and History from Tufts University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
